Eight CNG stations launched nationwide

SHANA (Tehran) – Eight new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations have been inaugurated across Iran to promote the use of clean fuel and increase CNG’s share in the national energy mix. The projects represent a total investment of 6.1 trillion rials.

According to the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company, the stations — with a combined capacity of 11,280 cubic meters per hour — were launched Sunday, with government support and private-sector participation.

The new facilities, designed to serve owners of gas-powered vehicles, include both single-purpose and dual-purpose stations located in the cities of Varamin, Talesh, Zeyveh, Zahedan, Isfahan, Zabol and Tabriz. In some of these areas, CNG service is being offered for the first time.

In Sistan and Baluchestan province, the number of active CNG stations has increased from three to nine under the current administration. Four additional stations are scheduled to come online by the end of the year.
