Gas supply to industries, power plants continues without restrictions

SHANA (Tehran) – The managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company said there are currently no restrictions on gas supply to industries and power plants, adding that the situation has improved in all aspects compared with last year.

Speaking to reporters Monday on the sidelines of the “Development of Knowledge-Based Cooperation” event, Saeid Tavakoli said the company is fully prepared for the cold season and that gas supply to industries, power plants and households is running smoothly.

“Industrial gas contracts have been arranged based on consumption needs and within four- to eight-month periods,” he said.

Tavakoli added that the overall gas supply situation is significantly better than last year, with a marked increase in gas injected into the network. “All major maintenance operations were completed on schedule, and gas storage facilities are in good condition, showing a 16% increase compared with last year,” he said.

Gas Exports to Iraq Continue

Tavakoli highlighted the close coordination among government agencies, noting that a joint working group has been formed under the Ministry of Petroleum and in cooperation with the Interior Ministry to ensure stable gas supply during the winter. “The atmosphere of cooperation among executive bodies is very positive,” he said.

On international relations, Tavakoli said negotiations between Iran and Russia, as well as between Iran and Turkey, are underway. “Gas exports to Iraq continue as usual without any interruption,” he added.

He noted that the amount of gas delivered to power plants currently exceeds the company’s commitments, emphasizing that “the country’s gas network is operating in a stable and safe condition.”
