President praises Oil Ministry for speeding up gas flare recovery

SHANA (Tehran) – President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the Oil Ministry on Saturday for accelerating the collection of flare gas and said the government is ready to remove any obstacles that may hinder the process.

Speaking at the signing ceremony for contracts to collect and sell 295 million cubic feet of flare gas per day from 12 oil fields, Pezeshkian said he appreciates the ministry’s efforts to expedite the project. “The government is prepared to resolve any challenges the private sector may face so that this project can be completed even earlier than the announced 18-month schedule,” he said.

Flare gas, he noted, represents a valuable national asset that is currently being burned. “Collecting these gases not only ensures a return on investment but also helps prevent environmental pollution. Therefore, the faster we complete this project, the more beneficial it will be,” he added.

The contracts signed under Pezeshkian’s directive cover daily recovery of 295 million cubic feet of flare gas from the Rag Sefid 1 and 2, Bibi Hakimeh 1, Kupal Bangestan, Ahvaz 1, 3 and 4 Asmari, Golkhari 3, Lali, Haft Shahidan, Zeilaei and Karoun oil fields.
