Mohammad-Sadeq Azimifar, who also heads the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Co. (NIORDC), said the increase reflects a rise of 2.5 billion liters in diesel reserves compared with the previous year.
“We have now achieved a historic record of 3.2 billion liters of diesel stored for power plants, marking a 128% increase compared with the same period last year,” Azimifar said.
He added that adequate diesel reserves have also been stored in NIORDC depots to support power plants during peak demand. “This additional 2.5 billion liters will help ensure stable fuel supplies to power plants during gas shortages in winter,” he said.
Azimifar expressed hope that with proper fuel management, Iran will be able to pass through the upcoming winter without any power outages.
