Iran’s weekly gas consumption tops 4.4 bcm

SHANA (Tehran) — Gas consumption in Iran’s power plants, major industries, and households exceeded 4.4 billion cubic meters during the fourth week of Shahrivar (Sept. 13–Sept. 19), according to official data.

Figures for the week ending Sept. 19 show that power plants remained the country’s top consumer, using about 1.957 billion cubic meters. Household, commercial and small industrial users followed with more than 1.263 billion cubic meters, while major industries consumed about 1.184 billion cubic meters.

Daily breakdowns showed:

Sept. 13: Power plants 298.34 mcm, major industries 167.99 mcm, households and smaller users 172.81 mcm. Total: 639.14 mcm.

Sept. 14: Power plants 300.96 mcm, major industries 168.30 mcm, households and smaller users 178.29 mcm. Total: 647.55 mcm.

Sept. 15: Power plants 284.49 mcm, major industries 167.14 mcm, households and smaller users 182.79 mcm. Total: 634.42 mcm.

Sept. 16: Power plants 268.54 mcm, major industries 166.38 mcm, households and smaller users 189.59 mcm. Total: 624.51 mcm.

Sept. 17: Power plants 267.85 mcm, major industries 171.18 mcm, households and smaller users 186.50 mcm. Total: 625.53 mcm.

Sept. 18: Power plants 266.41 mcm, major industries 170.70 mcm, households and smaller users 186.59 mcm. Total: 623.70 mcm.

Sept. 19: Power plants 270.94 mcm, major industries 172.07 mcm, households and smaller users 166.54 mcm. Total: 609.55 mcm.

On average, power plants consumed about 280 million cubic meters per day, confirming their position as the country’s largest gas user. Household, commercial and small industrial consumption showed greater daily fluctuations than major industries, peaking at more than 189 million cubic meters on Sept. 16.
