Comprehensive telecommunications plan launched in West Karoun

SHANA (Tehran) – The official overseeing construction of the West Karoun power plant and related facilities said oil processing centers in the region’s fields will be connected to an integrated, high-capacity telecommunications network.

According to the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, project manager Rahim Minaei announced that the West Karoun comprehensive telecommunications plan has been drafted and launched to establish a stable, secure, high-capacity communication infrastructure linking oil field processing centers, the Oil Ministry’s telecom system and Iran Telecommunication Co.

He said the project will support data transfer, telephone lines, internet, intranet, office automation, SCADA systems and export monitoring through a secure fiber-optic network. In areas where fiber installation is not possible, professional microwave radio in the 7-8 GHz band will be used.

Minaei added that operational support will also include supplying DMR radios to provide mobile communication for employees and managers in operations, maintenance, safety, firefighting, emergency services, HSE and security units.

At the same time, telephone centers are being installed and launched at South Azadegan and Darkhovin fields, along with repairs and reconstruction of existing telecom buildings and towers, he said. Two new buildings are also planned to house transmission system equipment for the company and Khuzestan Telecommunications, as well as mobile phone facilities at the project’s main centers.

Once operational, the project will connect West Karoun processing centers to the public telephone network and stable internet and data transfer services, providing infrastructure that supports ongoing operations and the development of new oil fields in the region.
