According to a report from the NIORDC, Mohammad-Sadeq Azimifar held separate meetings during a one-day trip to Armenia with the minister and deputy economy minister. The meetings were also attended by the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan welcomed Azimifar and emphasized the importance of developing bilateral energy cooperation. Papoyan stated that Armenia is interested in receiving liquefied gas from Iran, which could form the basis of a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership and help strengthen his country's energy security.
He also pointed to future cooperation opportunities, including expanding the trade of oil products, developing liquefied and natural gas supply infrastructure, joint energy investments, and the effective use of regional transportation and logistics capacities.
In a separate meeting, the Iranian deputy oil minister met with Armen Simonyan, Armenia's deputy economy minister for infrastructure and regional affairs, to negotiate joint programs in fuel production and trade.
