Power plants lead weekly gas consumption with 303 mcm daily average

SHANA (Tehran) — Power plants remained the largest consumers of natural gas in Iran during the second week of Shahrivar (Aug. 30–Sept. 5), using an average of 303 million cubic meters per day, according to official data.

More than 4.45 billion cubic meters of gas were consumed nationwide across three sectors — power plants, major industries, and the household-commercial-small industry sector.

From Aug. 30 to Sept. 5, power plants topped the list with over 2.1 billion cubic meters of consumption. The household, commercial and small industry sector followed with more than 1.17 billion cubic meters, and major industries with 1.16 billion cubic meters.

Daily breakdowns showed minor fluctuations in consumption by major industries, while household, commercial and small industries recorded more notable shifts.

 Aug. 30: Total 620.24 mcm — power plants 290.73 mcm; major industries 162.05 mcm; households, commercial and small industries 167.46 mcm.

 Aug. 31: Total 631.46 mcm — power plants 301.17 mcm; major industries 165.33 mcm; households and others 164.96 mcm.

Sept. 1: Total 634.33 mcm — power plants 297.77 mcm; major industries 167.77 mcm; households and others 168.79 mcm.

 Sept. 2: Total 648.36 mcm — power plants 311.91 mcm; major industries 167.96 mcm; households and others 168.49 mcm.

 Sept. 3: Total 650.08 mcm — power plants 305.21 mcm; major industries 166.41 mcm; households and others 178.46 mcm.

 Sept. 4: Total 645.01 mcm — power plants 308.17 mcm; major industries 168.40 mcm; households and others 168.44 mcm.

 Sept. 5: Total 624.67 mcm — power plants 304.08 mcm; major industries 162.60 mcm; households and others 157.99 mcm.

Officials said the data confirms that power plants remain the central drivers of gas consumption in the country, while household and commercial usage shows more day-to-day variation.
