Isfahan Oil Refinery to launch two major development projects

SHANA (Tehran) – Isfahan Oil Refining Co. will soon put two key projects into operation — the KHT kerosene sweetening unit and the Soffeh water supply project — in early-September, a senior company official said.

Asghar Saberi, deputy director of production, said the Soffeh project, in which the refinery is a main investor, will supply 1,000 cubic meters of seawater per hour. The water will be desalinated and softened for use in boilers and other refining operations.

Saberi added that the refinery has reached the commissioning stage for several initiatives, with new operational or engineering projects being completed roughly every three months. Four additional projects are expected to come online by late September, followed by more in December and March.

Highlighting the company’s project-oriented approach, he said Isfahan Oil Refining Co. has launched numerous programs over the past two years focused on shareholder value, environmental responsibility, social commitments, increased output, profitability, and efficiency. Many of these efforts are now nearing completion.

He also noted that the commissioning of boilers in the refinery’s southern section will allow all process units to operate independently, reducing reliance on utilities from the northern section. In addition, a new nitrogen unit in the southern section is scheduled to begin operations by late September.
