SP overhauling operations kept going during 12-day war

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the South Pars Gas Complex described the overhaul process of the facility’s refineries, aimed at maintaining production stability, stating that the operations continued without interruption even during the challenging 12-day imposed war.

Gholamabbas Hosseini noted that the major overhauls of the South Pars refineries began on April 7. The overhauls of the ninth and seventh refineries were successfully completed, while work on the third and eighth refineries continues with the expertise of domestic specialists. The schedule is set so that subsequent phases for the fifth, 10th, sixth, first, fourth, 11th, 12th, and second refineries will be finished by late October.

Emphasizing the importance of sustaining production year-round—especially during colder months—Hosseini said strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols is the top priority during the overhauls. Key measures include full inspections of burner tips, preventive maintenance of electrical and precision instruments, replacement of molecular sieves in gas rows, repairs to amine towers, and restoration of heat exchangers and reboilers.

The CEO highlighted welding operations, replacement of gas furnace pipes, steam line leak repairs, and the replacement of worn bolts. He stated that the overhauls—carried out entirely by domestic experts using locally produced goods—will continue under full safety protocols through October 2025 to ensure stable production and support national economic goals.

Production continues during overhauls

Hosseini praised the dedication of employees, noting that overhauls proceeded during the 12-day imposed war without disrupting production. Despite pressures and restrictions, workers at the South Pars refineries carried out the overhauls as planned, relying on domestic expertise to prevent any production delays.

He stressed that stable gas production is the result of relentless efforts by those working in industrial sectors to keep the economy running. This success reflects the high capacity of domestic specialists and precise technical and managerial planning.
