Mohammad-Mehdi Seyedi stated, "We must adopt a national perspective in fuel allocation, while relevant agencies operate with a sectoral approach."
According to NIORDC, Seyedi said on Sunday that multiple factors contribute to fuel smuggling. These include significant price disparities with neighboring countries and a lack of oversight over consumption sectors such as transportation, power plants, agriculture, and industry.
He added, "As long as fuel allocation is plagued by falsified transport documents, we will face challenges in directing fuel subsidies to actual consumers."
As the special representative of NIORDC’s CEO for preventing and combating oil product smuggling, Seyedi said that in previous years, six illegal fuel distribution centers were identified and referred to judicial authorities as major cases. He also noted, "Recently, in the agriculture and mining sectors, we identified numerous inactive equipment and mines that were receiving fuel quotas and reported them to the relevant agencies."
