According to the National Petrochemical Company, Davoud Jafari highlighted strategic plans aimed at improving safety standards and reducing accident rates in the industry. He stated, "This year, digital transformation and AI strategies have been incorporated into areas such as process safety enhancement, incident lessons learned, upgrading safety and firefighting systems, and training."
Emphasizing the needs of petrochemical companies and national policies, including the Seventh Development Plan on safety, Jafari said, "In line with the Supreme Leader’s directives and NPC’s policies, we are prioritizing the integration and development of process safety standards this year. We are also working toward a unified system for incident analysis and lessons learned."
Jafari stressed the petrochemical industry’s focus on empowering qualified safety and firefighting personnel, particularly in incident command. He added, "We are planning advanced safety training programs for emergency response and tank firefighting to better manage crisis situations."
Strengthening safety in high-risk petrochemical industry
Jafari noted the importance of innovative approaches, saying, "We are pursuing emergency management and incident command training programs, while our colleagues in defense are working to enhance industrial resilience."
Regarding healthcare facilities in energy hubs, he said, "Since last year, in collaboration with special economic zones, we have arranged for helicopter deployments to quickly transport emergency cases to adequately equipped hospitals. Additionally, in Kangan, with the support of Kangan Petrochemical Development Company and other stakeholders, we are upgrading trauma and burn treatment facilities at local hospitals. For Asaluyeh, we expect critical needs to be addressed within the next two years."
Jafari underscored the industry’s high-risk nature, stating, "The petrochemical sector is inherently hazardous, and incidents can have severe consequences. Therefore, we must strengthen safety measures as much as possible."
He highlighted the importance of pre-incident planning, noting, "A comprehensive roadmap covering pre-incident forecasting, prevention, and recovery has been developed, with a systematic approach guiding all operations."
