Constructive cooperation of Oil Ministry in Implementing Clean Air Law obligations

SHANA (Tehran) – The head of the Department of the Environment said the Oil Ministry has had appropriate and effective cooperation with the organization in fulfilling the obligations of the Clean Air Law.

Shina Ansari, referring to the organization's collaboration with the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), stated: "The Environmental Protection Organization has granted NIORDC permission to implement quality improvement projects at refineries on-site, in accordance with relevant regulations, to provide citizens with higher-quality fuel—a plan that did not exist in the past."

She emphasized that although the Oil Ministry is sometimes compelled to use fuel oil due to certain circumstances, it has presented plans in the National Working Group for Air Pollution Reduction to distribute low-sulfur fuel oil with the help of knowledge-based companies.

The head of the DoE also thanked NIORDC for its cooperation in signing a memorandum of understanding to scrap 20,000 outdated gasoline motorcycles and replace them with electric motorcycles.

The cooperation agreement to replace a fleet of 20,000 gasoline motorcycles with electric ones in Tehran was signed on the sidelines of the second day of the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition (May 9), in line with policies to reduce air pollution in major cities, promote clean transportation under the Clean Air Law, and manage and reduce fuel consumption as per the Economic Council’s resolution.
