Oil exhibition provides opportunity for public-private sector collaboration

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Lavan Special Economic Energy Zone emphasized the need to realize the goal of "investment for production" in the oil industry, stating that the 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025) presents a valuable opportunity for cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Davoud Habibipour pointed to the Leader’s naming of the new year and the exhibition’s theme, "Investment in the Oil Industry: A Guarantee for Economic Growth and Development," adding that at Iran Expo 2025, they met with various investment delegations from different countries. As a result, the Lavan Special Economic Zone has planned diverse initiatives for 2024 to attract investment in energy, high-tech industries, fisheries, and tourism, aligned with a maritime-based economy policy.

He noted that access to hydrocarbon resources, international waters, legal and customs exemptions, tax incentives, and transportation infrastructure—including an airport and port—are among the key advantages of investing in the Lavan Special Economic Energy Zone. He added that the zone’s master plan identifies opportunities in petrochemical end-products, high-tech industries, energy services, marine bunkering, maritime logistics, fisheries, aquaculture, and tourism.

Habibipour highlighted that last year, over 2,000 tons of goods worth 2.6 trillion rials were imported into the zone by businesses, underscoring that the legal exemptions in special economic zones create favorable conditions for investors.

Outlining efforts to develop sustainable infrastructure in Lavan, he said that projects for a power plant, desalination facility, and improved transportation routes—as announced at the "Transformation in Upstream Oil and Gas Investment and Development Event"—have been proposed, with negotiations ongoing with potential investors.

The 29th International Oil, Gas, Refining & Petrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2025) runs for four days starting May 8 at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds. Visitors can attend the event daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
