South Pars Refinery 2 focuses on sustainable production

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of South Pars Refinery 2 announced significant achievements in sustainable gas production and operational self-sufficiency.

Mohsen Attarzadeh emphasized the refinery’s key role in ensuring stable gas supply for the country and boosting national revenue.

He said, “Last year, relying entirely on domestic capabilities and using 100% Iranian-made goods for major repairs of boilers and gas compressors, over 20 billion cubic meters of sweetened gas were processed and transferred to national pipelines.”

He also reported supplying more than 2 billion cubic meters of gas to Pars Petrochemical Complex last year, adding, “This led to the production of over 500,000 tons of ethane and 1 million tons of LPG, playing a vital role in supplying downstream units and creating added value.”

Attarzadeh continued, “Thanks to the efforts of Refinery 2’s staff, major overhauls of desalination units were successfully completed, achieving full self-sufficiency in supplying the refinery’s freshwater needs.”

Highlighting the importance of maintaining peak production while conducting intensive maintenance during cold seasons, he said, “These successes were achieved through precise planning, timely equipment supply, effective contract management, and safe execution of simultaneous operations—all relying on domestic expertise.”

He reported producing over 20 million barrels of gas condensate and 120,000 tons of granulated sulfur in the past year and stressed the continuation of this high-quality performance in the current year.
