Drilling begins on fifth infill well at South Pars field

SHANA (Tehran) – The supervisor of the 35-well infill drilling project at South Pars Field announced that drilling has begun on the fifth well in the project, located in phases 15 and 16.

Shobeyr Nabavi stated that this well is the second in the second work package of the infill drilling plan, aimed at increasing production from the SPD15 platform in the shared field. The well is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The drilling is being carried out using the DCI-2 rig, commissioned by Pars Oil and Gas Company, with Petroiran Development Company/DCI as a partner in the second work package.

Nabavi added that the first well in this package, with a daily production capacity of 1.5 million cubic meters of rich gas, began operations at the end of last year.

Regarding the project’s progress, he noted that three additional wells are currently being drilled under separate work packages on the SPD1, SPD19A and SPD19B platforms by Pars Oil and Gas Company and other contractors. Production from these wells is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
