Iran welcomes foreign investors in its oil industry: Paknejad

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s oil minister announced a meeting with foreign ambassadors next week, emphasizing that Iran welcomes foreign countries—especially neighboring nations—to invest in its oil industry.

Mohsen Paknejad spoke Wednesday on the sidelines of a meeting with Saad Abdullah Saad Al Mahmoud Al-Sherif, Qatar’s ambassador to Iran, discussing potential areas of cooperation between the two countries.

Paknejad said Qatar’s energy minister has been invited to attend the upcoming International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition. He added that next week, a separate meeting will be held with foreign ambassadors, organized by the Ministry of Petroleum’s international and trade affairs division. At the meeting, the National Iranian Oil Company will present a report on various aspects of the exhibition.

The oil minister said the goal of the meeting is to invite ambassadors and relevant ministers to visit the exhibition and encourage international investors—particularly from neighboring countries—to participate.

Paknejad noted that during talks with Qatar’s ambassador, Iran invited Qatar to engage in mutual areas of interest, particularly in investment and joint ventures. “Iran welcomes Qatar’s participation in various projects, especially oil-related initiatives,” he said.

Regarding the upcoming “Transformation in Investment and Development of Iran’s Upstream Oil and Gas” event, Paknejad said it will be held Monday, April 22, at the Summit Conference Hall. Foreign ambassadors have also been invited to attend. The event will introduce over 200 investment packages worth more than $130 billion, with specialized sessions detailing these opportunities for investors.
