In a live televised address on Saturday, Paknejad noted that Nowruz travel typically begins on March 15 (the 25th of Esfand in the Iranian calendar). From that date until Friday, average daily gasoline consumption reached about 134 million liters. On March 19 (the 29th of Esfand), consumption spiked to a surprising 164 million liters in a single day.
"If we consider the start of the holiday and travel period, average daily gasoline consumption has increased by 8% compared to last year’s figure of around 124 million liters per day," he said.
The minister credited timely planning and efforts by Iran’s refining and distribution companies for ensuring sufficient fuel supplies, particularly in high-traffic travel destinations. "Thankfully, our fuel reserves are in excellent condition, and we do not anticipate any issues in meeting demand, even during the second wave of holiday travel," he added.
