Ebrahim Piramoun emphasized that NISOC plays a decisive role in the country's oil production, accounting for approximately 75% of Iran's total oil output. He highlighted the heavy responsibilities in production and operations, particularly in the oil-rich regions spanning five provinces, which are critical and sensitive areas.
Piramoun underscored the pivotal role of oil in the national economy, adding that the oil-rich regions have adopted an increased production approach in the second half of 1403, in line with the recent plans of the government. This aligns with the oil production surge program developed by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and the Ministry of Oil, focusing on all oil production-related activities.
He continued, stating that these efforts, both above and below ground, have mobilized all available resources and capacities, enabling unprecedented progress in boosting oil production. Currently, production capacity in the southern oil-rich regions has increased by about 7% compared to the beginning of the second half of 1403.
Major steps in gas production, addressing imbalances
Piramoun pointed out that this year's energy imbalances have posed significant challenges for the Ministry of Petroleum and its officials. He explained that addressing these imbalances has been a fundamental issue and a priority for the government. As a result, NISOC has achieved notable records in gas production, contributing significantly to gas supply and resolving imbalances.
He added that the company has delivered 32% more gas to the national grid than the mandated target. Efforts to reduce gas flaring, which is both a waste of national resources and an environmental pollutant, have been prioritized, with substantial planning and follow-up in the southern oil-rich regions.
Stabilizing production, round-the-clock efforts during holidays
The NISOC CEO announced plans to maintain and stabilize production levels while reducing gas flaring in the year 1404. He emphasized that sustaining high production volumes requires specific resources and equipment, and the company is fully committed to maintaining oil production stability.
Piramoun noted that the oil industry operates 24/7, with no regard for holidays, including during Ramadan and Nowruz, the most significant holidays for Iranians. He extended his congratulations to all colleagues and the honorable people of Iran for the Nowruz holiday.
He stressed that all employees, whether in operations, technical roles, or support and management positions, must remain engaged in supporting production and operational activities. This continuous effort ensures the steady flow of oil production and its transfer to export terminals and refineries. Some colleagues, he added, are so engrossed in production and operational tasks that they are unaware of the holiday season.
