Largest oil processing unit in Iran begins trial operation

SHANA (Tehran) – On the anniversary of the nationalization of Iran's oil industry, the country's largest crude oil processing unit has commenced trial operations on Wednesday, according to the CEO of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC).

Nasrollah Zarei announced that the official inauguration of the project will take place in the near future, following the stabilization and sustainability of production, with the presence of senior government officials.

He expressed gratitude for the support of the oil minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company in advancing the project's goals, stating that achieving such a significant milestone reflects the expertise, skill, and dedication of the country's capable specialists.

Mohammad-Mehdi Azma, the project manager of CTEP, speaking at the flare ignition ceremony, noted that the largest crude oil processing unit in the country was launched on the anniversary of the oil industry's nationalization and has entered the trial operation phase. This success was achieved through the round-the-clock efforts of PEDEC specialists, in collaboration with Petropars Group, overcoming numerous challenges.

He added that the trial launch focused on key sections, including flares, auxiliary facilities, desalination equipment, oil storage tanks, and oil transfer facilities. To ensure operational safety, tasks such as filling firefighting water tanks, testing control and safety systems, and pressure testing of flow lines were completed with precision and speed.

The CTEP processing unit, part of the South Azadegan project, began trial operations with the ignition of the flare. This project plays a key role in increasing the country's crude oil production and processing capacity and is recognized as one of the most significant achievements of Iran's oil industry in recent years.

The trial operation of the project, initiated by specialists in the final days of the Iranian year 1403, was overseen by the CEO of PEDEC, who joined the project team and their families in the region to mark the New Year and honor their efforts.

According to reports, with the commissioning of this processing unit, the country's crude oil production and processing capacity is expected to increase significantly, paving the way for further development of Iran's oil industry.
