Kharg oil terminal as hub of Iran’s oil exports meets global standards

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Iran Oil Terminals Company emphasized the critical role of the Kharg oil terminal in the export of the country’s crude oil, stating that all stages of receiving, storing, and exporting oil at this terminal are carried out in strict compliance with international standards and under the supervision of advanced quality control laboratories.

Abbas Asadrouz highlighted the central position of the Kharg terminal in Iran’s crude oil exports, noting that over 90% of Iran’s crude oil is exported to global markets through this facility. Crude oil from various fields across the country is transported to Kharg via marine pipelines, where it undergoes rigorous quantitative and qualitative testing to ensure it meets international standards before being offered for export.

Stressing the key role of quality control laboratories, Asadrouz added that the Iran Oil Terminals Company operates one of the world’s most reputable laboratory centers. Equipped with advanced technology and state-of-the-art facilities, the center guarantees the accuracy and precision of crude oil and gas condensate quality assessments. The laboratory, recognized as an official reference with international certifications, continuously monitors the quality of exported oil.

Asadrouz noted that Iran’s crude oil is closely supervised by experienced industry experts at every stage, from production to export. At the Kharg terminal, operations are conducted using modern equipment and knowledge-based approaches to prevent impurities and ensure the delivery of the highest-quality product to customers.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining measurement systems and optimizing export processes, stating that the company focuses on improving maritime services, increasing reliability and speed, reducing crude oil impurities, and enhancing facility integrity through agile and excellence-driven strategies.

Asadrouz also highlighted that the Kharg oil terminal, as the largest and most important crude oil export hub in Iran, plays a vital role in securing foreign currency revenues and strengthening ties with global markets.
