Masoud Pezeshkian, during a marine economy development meeting on Monday, highlighted the implementation of environmental projects in Khuzestan. He described Khuzestan as a valuable gem and stressed the urgent need to complete wastewater collection projects, manage dust control, and address oil pollution, especially gas flaring at oil and gas facilities.
He called for these efforts to be pursued seriously within a well-structured, expert-driven program involving all relevant agencies to achieve swift results.
He also underscored the importance of finalizing and updating the national land-use plan with input from national and regional experts. This plan should be issued as a guiding document for delegating authority to provincial governors.
Pezeshkian noted that new approaches are necessary, as existing methods have not resolved imbalances and issues in areas like electricity and fuel over the past 46 years.
The president also addressed the issue of ship scrapping and recycling, which was discussed at the meeting.
He instructed that detailed guidelines with environmental and economic considerations be prepared and issued, followed by strict oversight to ensure proper implementation and compliance.
