Sustainable development of gas industry through innovative methods

SHANA (Tehran) – The acting head of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) emphasized that improving the quality of projects based on physical assets and employing innovative methods in project execution are key strategies for enhancing productivity and achieving sustainable development in the country’s gas industry.

On Monday, during the first Project Management Excellence Meeting at IGEDC, Behnam Mirzaei highlighted that improving project execution quality and enhancing operational processes are among the company’s top priorities.

He stressed that by forming a task force comprising experienced experts and young employees, significant steps will be taken to improve operational processes and facilitate transformation in projects.

Mirzaei also underscored the importance of succession planning within the organization, stating that upgrading project quality based on physical assets and utilizing modern methods in project execution are critical strategies for boosting productivity and ensuring sustainable development in the gas industry.

Collaboration of 130 companies in gas infrastructure development

Ali Sarpak, the director of planning and project control at IGEDEC, noted during the meeting that numerous projects in the country’s gas infrastructure sector have been completed and operationalized. He cited examples such as the Parsian Gas Refinery, with a capacity of 31.5 million cubic meters per day, and the Masjed Soleyman Gas Refinery, with a capacity of 1 million cubic meters per day.

Sarpak mentioned other achievements in the sector, including the installation of measurement systems in South Pars, the construction of the Bazargan Export Gas Station, and the implementation of an F&G (Fire and Gas) monitoring system at the Parsian Gas Refinery.

He added that gas condensate storage projects have also been launched, including the construction of a 70,000-cubic-meter tank at the Parsian Refinery and two 20,000-cubic-meter tanks at the Asaluyeh Refinery.

Referring to significant projects in natural gas storage that have become operational, Sarpak highlighted the first phase of the Shourijeh Natural Gas Storage Project and the first phase of the Sarajeh Natural Gas Storage Development Project. These initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring stable gas supply, particularly during peak consumption seasons.

Sarpak noted that the execution of gas projects has been carried out through extensive collaboration, with over 130 contracting, consulting, manufacturing, and supply companies participating in these initiatives. This broad cooperation has been instrumental in advancing projects, optimizing processes, and developing the country’s gas industry infrastructure.
