Domestically-produced compressor unveiled at Petrotech Conference

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran has joined the ranks of a select few countries capable of designing and manufacturing integrally geared centrifugal compressors with the unveiling of a domestically produced variable speed process compressor.

The compressor, developed by the new technology-based firm (NTBF) Tose’eh Machine Irsa, was unveiled on Sunday, during the first day of the third PetroTech conference.

The event was attended by Omid Shakeri, deputy oil minister for engineering, research, and technology; Mohsen Mohammadpour, assistant to the oil minister; Azim Kalantari-Asl, head of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry; as well as several other oil industry officials and managers.

 Breakthrough in oil-free compressor technology

The unveiled geared centrifugal compressor is one of the most advanced oil-free pieces of equipment in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. It was showcased at booth 20, row 6 of the Petrotech exhibition.

This equipment, which plays a vital role in polypropylene units, is capable of operating with one primary gas mixture and two alternative mixtures. The use of variable speed technology enables process optimization and improved energy efficiency.

 Localized nanotech in impeller coating

A distinctive feature of this compressor is the application of fifth-generation nanotechnology in impeller coating. This technology extends the equipment’s operational lifespan and prevents the deposition of polypropylene particles in the gas path, significantly reducing maintenance costs and enhancing operational stability in petrochemical industries.

The compressor, with an output pressure of 26 bar for 509 cubic meters per hour of process gas, can operate at a speed of 7,200 rpm and increase output pressure up to 28 bar.

 Industrial independence, forex savings

The equipment, with over 85% domestic manufacturing depth, has been designed and produced locally.

The localization of this technology has prevented the outflow of more than $1 million in foreign currency, paving the way for the development of domestic capabilities and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.

The unveiling of this compressor at the Petrotech conference marks a significant step for Iran toward industrial self-sufficiency and the development of advanced process technologies.

This milestone strengthens Iran’s role in the supply chain of strategic equipment for the oil and petrochemical industries.
