This move is part of the government’s policies to enhance the resilience of the energy network and address challenges in supplying fuel to power plants. Since the start of the 14th administration’s term, there has been a significant increase in the production and delivery of fuel to power plants.
Over the first six months of the administration’s term (August 2024), more than 7.4 billion liters of gas oil were delivered to power plants, marking a 41% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, the country’s gas oil production during the same six-month period reached 21 billion liters, reflecting an 8% growth compared to the previous year.
According to the latest statistics from the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), the company delivered 72 million liters of gas oil and 35 million liters of fuel oil to power plants on Friday (February 21), setting an unprecedented record of 107 million liters of liquid fuel delivered in a single day. The Ministry of Petroleum has made every effort to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply.
Recently, a meeting was held at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company to coordinate fuel supply for the winter season, with managers from all 37 regions of the country in attendance. During the meeting, the status of fuel reserves, distribution methods, consumption rates, and necessary measures to prevent shortages were reviewed.
All regional managers reported maximum readiness to handle the upcoming cold wave. Additionally, fuel distribution companies have taken necessary measures to ensure stable fuel supply during the cold weather.
