On Tuesday, Masoud Pezeshkian, speaking after the inauguration ceremony of projects by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, highlighted energy shortages and imbalances across various sectors as key priorities for the government.
He stated, “We are continuously addressing and resolving these issues in meetings with relevant officials, as well as in discussions with leaders of the legislative and judicial branches. Resolving shortages, particularly in fuel and power, is among our fundamental priorities, and we are striving to address them through expert and effective solutions.”
Pezeshkian thanked the public for their cooperation and praised the ongoing efforts of officials from the ministries of interior, energy, oil, industry, mining, trade, and roads and urban development.
He noted that public participation and officials’ efforts in implementing initiatives such as the “2 Degrees Less” campaign have resulted in daily savings of up to 20 million liters of fuel. When combined with other measures and programs, this has led to a reduction in daily consumption of up to 40 million liters.
The president reiterated that, with public support and coordinated efforts by officials, the country has successfully navigated recent months without major issues. Referring to weather forecasts predicting colder days ahead, he emphasized, “I sincerely ask the public to once again support and cooperate with us in managing energy supply during these cold days so we can successfully overcome this period as well.”
Pezeshkian added that the government has plans underway for the coming year to address energy shortages by expanding solar power generation capacity. “Significant work has begun, and a major movement is underway. At the appropriate time, we will share promising news with the public,” he said.
