South Pars Refinery 7 on track to maximize production

SHANA (Tehran) – The manager of South Pars Refinery 7 announced that the facility has taken significant steps toward maximizing production, with output expected to increase substantially by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20).

Mehrdad Abdi, while congratulating the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, stated that the refinery, as the largest achievement of the Islamic Revolution in the oil and gas industry, has played a key role in economic growth, national security, and enhancing the country’s dignity.

Highlighting the 26 years since the establishment of the complex, Abdi emphasized that the presence and efforts of Iranian experts in the refineries have been a major factor in advancing the nation’s energy industry.

He noted that the refinery has achieved maximum gas extraction from offshore platforms, with specialists and staff utilizing innovative technology and 100% domestically produced goods.

Over the first 10 months of the Iranian year 1403 (starting March 20, 2024), the refinery received over 14 billion cubic meters of gas from the platforms, sweetening and injecting more than 12.5 billion cubic meters into the national grid.

Abdi also detailed the production of other products at South Pars Refinery 7 since the beginning of the current Iranian year, including over 400,000 tons of propane, nearly 280,000 tons of butane, and 32,500 tons of granulated sulfur.

He added that the refinery has taken effective steps toward maximizing production through employee training programs, fostering skilled and creative human resources, conducting high-quality maintenance, collaborating with knowledge-based and first-time companies, sourcing 100% of parts and equipment domestically, and prioritizing environmental protection in surrounding areas. By the end of the year, the refinery will significantly increase its production output.

Abdi underscored the achievements of the oil and gas industry over the past 45 years since the Islamic Revolution, noting that the establishment of the South Pars Gas Complex is one of its key accomplishments.

Today, the complex, with 13 refineries and a daily processing capacity of nearly 600 million cubic meters of gas, stands as a shining symbol and star of the nation’s oil and gas industry.
