Power plant fuel supply situation is stable

SHANA (Tehran) – Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said Sunday that fuel supply to power plants is at an appropriate level, thanks to efforts by the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company and the National Iranian Gas Company as he noted that power outages have decreased as a result.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 14th International Exhibition of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in Electricity, Aliabadi said scheduled power outages have been reduced across the country.

However, he emphasized the need for continued public cooperation in conserving electricity and gas, particularly in the household sector.

"Managing consumption is crucial so that more fuel can be allocated to power plants and other productive sectors during the upcoming cold days," he said.

The minister added that the daily fuel supply to power plants, measured in equivalent fuel terms, is adequate, and power outages have declined as a result.

Regarding renewable energy, Aliabadi stated that Iran’s installed renewable electricity capacity has surpassed 1,500 megawatts and is expected to reach approximately 1,800 megawatts by the end of the current year.

He outlined the government’s goal of increasing renewable energy capacity to around 30,000 megawatts during its term. "This is our target, and we are striving to achieve a significant portion of it," he said.

Aliabadi emphasized the importance of leveraging all available capacities, particularly from the private sector, to meet this goal.

"We welcome any ideas or capacities from the private sector and will support their implementation," he said.

Liquid fuel delivery to power plants reached 107 million liters on Friday.

Data from the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company showed that 74 million liters of gas oil and 33 million liters of fuel oil were delivered to power plants.
