Major advancement for Bandar Abbas refinery in securing stable feedstock supply

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company announced the launch of a new pipeline supplying the refinery with a daily capacity of 300,000 barrels, eliminating the need for maritime transportation of feedstock.

Speaking on a TV program, Ahmad Hashemi noted that Bandar Abbas refinery had been the only refinery in the country relying on ships for feedstock supply.

"This method posed significant economic risks for the refinery and, consequently, for the country's product supply. At times, it even brought the refinery to the brink of shutdown," he said.

Hashemi explained that, with the support of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, the pipeline project was completed successfully. The 30-inch pipeline, an offshoot of the Goreh-Jask pipeline, stretches 37 kilometers and extends approximately 5 kilometers into the refinery.

"The connection of this pipeline (a branch of the Goreh-Jask crude oil pipeline) eliminates the need to transport feedstock by ship," Hashemi stated.

"Now, only about 30,000 barrels of condensate are transported daily by ship, which poses significantly less risk."
