“Unfortunately, when we call for saving energy, we face objections,” he said during a meeting of the North Khorasan Provincial Planning and Development Council on Thursday evening.
He urged officials to reject complacency and strive for improvement, saying managers should never be content with the current situation. If this mindset persists, we will not see change. But if we adopt a different approach, we will move forward.”
Pezeshkian went on to say that “Why shouldn't we aim to be the best? Why don’t we work harder to improve? A mindset focused on progress and development must take root in all managers. If this belief becomes widespread, we will achieve the development envisioned by the Leader.”
The president expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s lag in progress. “Our backwardness is unacceptable. If we are not developing, it means we lack belief in development. Every official, regardless of their role, must prioritize development and work tirelessly toward it.”
Criticizing the country’s gas consumption, Pezeshkian noted that solving all of North Khorasan's issues would require just $1 billion. “When we talk about conserving gas, some object,” he said.
The president also addressed electricity consumption, stating, “The country’s electricity use could be reduced to a quarter of its current level, but we’ve become accustomed to inefficient practices. If our country deteriorates, it’s because of us—not the United States or any foreign entity. We must change how we operate. Growth, development, and the country’s future are in our hands, and we must act differently and use energy efficiently.”
Pezeshkian stressed the importance of improved management. “We can achieve greater efficiency in our governance by managing in a way that achieves more impact with fewer costs.”
