Saeid Tavakoli emphasized the importance of energy conservation, stating, "If we reduce indoor temperatures by just 2 degrees Celsius, we can contribute nearly 50 million cubic meters of gas to the national network. This is equivalent to the production capacity of two phases of South Pars."
Tavakoli noted that the Meteorological Organization has forecast a significant drop in temperatures on Sunday and Monday next week. "To ensure a stable gas supply during these conditions, we need special cooperation from consumers. Saving this amount of energy not only stabilizes the gas network but also helps reduce pollution and prevent power outages," he added.
President highlights importance of industrial energy supply
President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed the need to prevent gas and electricity shortages for industrial units during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
He said, "All relevant authorities must work to avoid energy imbalances that would force us to cut power to industries. Shutting down industries due to gas and electricity shortages would lead to future shortages of goods and products, which we must prevent."
The president referenced this year’s designation as the “Year of Production Leap” by the Leader, adding, "We must not let industries to halt operations due to energy supply issues, particularly in a year focused on boosting production."
He also urged households to reduce gas and electricity consumption, reiterating that a mere two-degree reduction in indoor temperatures could save up to 50 million cubic meters of gas.
"All media outlets, including national broadcasters and Friday prayer leaders, can play a role in encouraging the public to adopt this measure," the president said.
