Energy Consumption Optimization A Must, MP

SHANA (Tehran)—Mustafa Nakhai, a member of Iran’s Parliament says that energy consumption optimization must be pursued seriously.

In an interview with Shana, he also added that a significant portion of the natural gas imbalance could be managed through storage.
According to Nakhai, the 7th National Development Plan has good energy sector programs to address imbalances and improve infrastructure. He noted that one of the provisions of the 7th National Development Plan relates to gas storage.
He further said that the global average for natural gas storage is 11% of its total consumption, and in European and advanced countries, the storage rate exceeds 20% of the average consumption, while the storage rate in Iran is not considerable.
He continued: A significant portion of the gas imbalance could be managed through storage at the same time optimizing consumption is a critical issue that must be seriously pursued.

Nakhai emphasized: With the measures planned by the Ministry of Petroleum, as well as increased attention to the so-called “consumption pattern,” it is expected that this winter the country will face the least challenges in terms of natural gas supply.
