Natural Gas Consumption Up by 55 Percent

SHANA (Tehran) - The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) stated that gas consumption increased by 55% in the first four days of the Iranian month of Aban, which began October 22, this year compared to the same period last year.

In an interview with IRIB News Agency, Saeed Tavakoli said that daily gas consumption has increased by about 100 million cubic meters per day compared to the same time last year. He added that with the arrival of a cold air mass in the country, more than 11 provinces experienced snowfall and rainfall, causing temperatures to drop by 12 degrees, leading to winter conditions in the country's northern half.

Regarding gas consumption in the residential sector compared to the same period in 1402 (2023), Tavakoli emphasized that household gas consumption has risen significantly, reaching 390 million cubic meters per day in the first four days of Aban, up from 250 million cubic meters per day during the similar period last year.

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum urged people across the country, especially in colder regions and the north, to cooperate with the NIGC by adhering to consumption patterns to ensure sustained heat for all citizens across the country.
