Soumar, Saman, Delavaran oil fields development project awarded to Iranian companies

SHANA (Tehran) – The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) signed a contract with two domestic companies on Sunday for development of Soumar, Saman, and Delavaran oil fields.

NIOC awarded the 245-million-dollar contract to Well Services of Iran (WSI) and Well Services Development of Petro Iranian Arvand (PIA) during a signing ceremony attended by First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber and Oil Minister Javad Owji.

The cumulative production during the 20-year time of the contract has been estimated at 404 million barrels of crude oil.

According to the contract, the executive operations of the development project includes the drilling of 10 new wells (six production wells – three in Saman field, two in Soumar, and one in Delavaran; three delineation-production wells – one in each field; and one delineation well – in Soumar), the repairing, completing and operationalizing of two existing wells in Saman and Delavaran fields, the installing of three downhole pumps in Delavaran field, demining, the building of roads, well sites and surface facilities including wellhead equipment, flow pipelines and separator, and the updating of reservoir simulation models.

On April 5, 2023, NIOC, WSI, and Well Services Development of Petro Iranian Arvand signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for conducting studies on the three oil fields’ development and finally signed a contract to produce 9,000 barrels of crude per day after holding several rounds of negotiations.

Soumar field is located 30 kilometers southwest of Gilan Gharb, a city in western province of Kermanshah while Saman field is situated 17km southeast of Naftshahr, Kermanshah Province, and Delavaran field is 85km off Ilam, a city in western province of Ilam.

The three fields contain around 410 million barrels of oil in place (OIP).
