Iran, Venezuela to expand oil cooperation

SHANA (Algiers) – Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji and his Venezuelan counterpart Pedro Tellechea met in the Algerian capital Algiers on Saturday and agreed to broaden cooperation in the petroleum industry.

The two officials, who held talks on the sidelines of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum Summit of Heads of State and Government, expressed their satisfaction with progress of the signed contracts.

New oil and gas contracts, renovation of other refineries and petrochemical complexes in Venezuela, export of Iran’s oil equipment and technical-engineering services to the Latin American country, expansion of economic relations in trade of oil as well as oil and petrochemical products were among the issues Owji and Tellechea discussed.

The Venezuelan oil minister expressed his appreciation to Iranian companies for their great performance in projects for developing the Venezuelan port Jose, revamping El Palito refinery, overhauling facilities, and equipping gas compressor stations.
