Iran ready to become region’s energy hub, welcomes foreign investment, says Raeisi at GECF Summit

SHANA (Algiers) – Iran is ready to turn into an energy hub in the region and become a safe route for distribution and transit of gas between producers and consumer markets, President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said in the Algerian capital Algiers on Saturday.

Addressing the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit of Heads of State and Government, the president added, “Relying on its huge natural reserves, transit situation, and advanced technology, Iran intends to play a role matching its advantages in the gas market through promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation with all countries.

“Our regional strategy is to increase gas production and export and supply this clean and value-creating energy to regional peoples as much as possible,” he underlined.

Given its great capacities, Iran’s gas industry has prepared a suitable ground in its upstream and downstream sectors for the GECF member states’ cooperation, said Raeisi, inviting foreign investors and the GECF member states to participate in his country’s energy projects, including natural gas projects.

The Iranian knowledge-based companies can create partnership and successful examples in the form of new models in interaction with the GECF member countries, the president continued.

Raeisi extended Iran’s invitation to the GECF member states to begin their systematic cooperation for joint investment in the gas industry and exchange of information and experiences in the fields of extraction, processing, transmission, and trade and related technologies.
