The cooperation document was inked by Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparsalan Bayraktar in the presence of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Following their talks at the 8th meeting of Iran-Türkiye High-Level Cooperation Council, the two countries’ officials signed 10 documents on bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, culture, media and communications, rail and air transportation, electricity, economy, and free trade zone.
Raeisi and Erdogan held a one-on-one meeting before speaking in a joint press conference.
The Iranian president is paying a visit to Ankara at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart.
Raeisi was to start his visit to Türkiye in early January but canceled the trip as scores of Iranian people were martyred in the twin terrorist attacks in Kerman, a city in southeastern Iran.
On Tuesday, Iran’s oil minister arrived in Türkiye to discuss the expansion of energy ties between the two countries.
Owji and Bayraktar discussed the extension of the contract on exports of Iran’s gas to its neighboring state, exports of Iran’s oil and petrochemical products as well as technical and engineering services, and Turkish companies’ investment in Iran’s oil industry.
