Raeisi says Iran-Türkiye energy exchange obstacles will be removed by careful planning

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi said on Wednesday the obstacles to energy exchanges between his country and Türkiye will be overcome with careful planning.

Speaking at the 8th meeting of Iran-Türkiye High-Level Cooperation Council in Ankara, Raeisi called the session the symbol of the two countries’ will to expand their relations.

Given the existing capacities in the two states, Iran-Türkiye annual trade volume could hit $30 billion, he underlined.

Erdogan, for his part, said the two sides held talks on the development of bilateral trade and agreed to make every effort to increase their annual trade volume to $30 billion.

Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye gas swap; Turkish companies’ investment in Iran; exports of Iran’s agricultural products to Türkiye; cooperation in road transportation; banking cooperation; Israel’s crimes in Gaza and the United States’ support for the Zionist regime’s genocide; fight against terrorism as well as drug and arms trafficking; Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity; security cooperation between Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia; and formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan were among the topics the two sides discussed.

Iran and Türkiye signed 10 documents on bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, culture, media and communications, rail and air transportation, electricity, economy, and free trade zone.
