Iran’s IGEDC setting new record by operating 10 gas compressor stations simultaneously

SHANA (Tehran) – The Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC) is setting a new record in the country’s industry by operating 10 gas compressor stations concurrently.

Samad Rahimi, the IGEDC executive project manager, pointed to homegrown turbo compressors as the main equipment for implementing the project successfully.

According to him, Iran’s MAPNA Group and Oil Turbo Compressor Company (OTC) have been manufacturing 200 turbo compressors with an investment of some $2 billion – a megaproject of the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company.

IGAT-10 stations

Rahimi said Nourabad, Polkalleh, Aradan gas compressor stations have been installed on Iran Gas Trunkline-10 (IGAT-10).

Doorahan is the most difficult project due to its geographical location as the gas pressure booster station is on the mountain slope, stated the manager, adding all four compressors of the facility have been supplied and their pre-commissioning is in progress and the station will become operational in winter.

Aradan gas compressor station has been put into operation sooner than the due time, he said and continued Aradan, Polkalleh, and Nourabad stations are ready for the official launch.

Khormoj, Abpakhsh stations

Khormoj, Abpakhsh gas compressor stations will be installed on IGAT-6 in southern province of Bushehr, which will be vital to the western corridor, explained the project manager.

He expressed hope the two facilities will come on stream within two weeks despite the complexities of the project.

Dehshir, Ardestan stations make over 60% progress

Installed on IGAT-8, the projects of Dehshir and Ardestan stations have witnessed more than 60 percent progress, said Rahimi.

Half of the needed turbines has been provided and the other half is under construction and test, he continued.

IGAT-8 transmission capacity to hit 110 mcm/d

The gas transmission capacity of IGAT-8 has already jumped by operating Khonj, Jahrom, Safa-Shahr, Arsanjan, Kheyrgoo, Kashan, and Naeen stations, noted the manager, adding IGAT-8 will be completed by launching Dehshir and Ardestan facilities and its nominal capacity will reach 110 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d).

Projects in SE Iran

Shifting to IGEDC’s projects in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and Chabahar port, southeastern Iran, Rahimi said the installation of the two gas compressor stations of Lamerd and Bastak on IGAT-7 started six months ago.

Three to four more stations will be possibly added to satisfy the provincial demand in the future, he predicted.
