South Pars Phase 11 gas project launch a great achievement, says MP

SHANA (Tehran) – A member of Iran’s Parliament on Monday called the inauguration of Phase 11 of the South Pars (SP) gas field a great achievement of the 13th administration.

In his talks with SHANA, Hadi Beigi-Nejad added the SP Phase 11 gas project had been left incomplete for 20 years as foreign contractors pulled out of it.

On August 28, Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi inaugurated Phase 11, which is the farthest border section of South Pars gas field Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf waters.

According to Oil Minister Javad Owji, the initial gas output of Phase 11 amounts to 7-10 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) and the figure will reach 15 mcm/d before the next winter and will soar to 50 mcm/d when more wells are drilled and put into operation.

Pointing to other achievements of the incumbent government, Beigi-Nejad, who is the vice chairman of Parliament’s Energy Committee, referred to the massive increase in exports of oil and oil products despite sanctions.
