The Iranian president took part in the 15th Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) Summit at the invitation of his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.
Delivering speech at the summit, Raeisi met presidents of China, Brazil, Senegal, and Tanzania, and also prime ministers of India and Bangladesh.
According to reports, leaders of 70 nations participated in the summit, which kicked off on August 22.
The 13th (Raeisi) administration has put the development of Iran’s relations with regional and international organizations on the agenda.
The incumbent administration has accelerated the process of Iran’s joining BRICS, deepened the ties with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and promoted cooperation with the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and other international bodies, showing its policy on enhancing multilateralism.
BRICS is seeking to abandon the use of dollar for trade settlements completely.
The bloc has announced the addition of six new countries from the dozens of applications it has recently received.
The countries joining BRICS are Iran, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia.
