Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday called for Iran to share its experience in processing and creating added value in the energy sector during his meeting with the Iranian president.
Raeisi voiced Iran’s readiness to share its energy experience with the African country.
Pointing to the opening of Iran’s Innovation and Technology Office in Uganda, Raeisi also expressed his country’s willingness to transfer its great experiences in the fields of medicine, science and technology, and agriculture in an effort to develop its commercial and economic relations with Uganda.
The Iranian president expressed his gratitude to Uganda for confronting extremism and terrorism, describing the anti-colonial nature of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and the Uganda Freedom Movement (UFM) as a commonality between the two countries.
Raeisi started his three-nation tour of Africa on Wednesday, when he arrived in Kenya. Later in the day, he visited Uganda, and departed Kampala for Harare, landing in the capital Zimbabwe on Thursday.
The African tour is the first by an Iranian president in more than a decade aimed at diversifying relations amid U.S. sanctions.
