Spokesman: Iran-Oman trade volume up over 40%

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s government spokesman on Tuesday said Iran-Oman trade volume neared $2 billion last year, showing an over 40 percent growth.

Ali Bahadori Jahromi, who made the remarks in a news conference, added the Omani sultan’s recent visit to Iran was in line with the country’s good neighborliness policy.

The two countries reached good agreements on cooperation in four fields of energy, health, transportation, and trade, said, the spokesman, adding Iran and Oman are determined to expand bilateral relations.

The energy cooperation document was inked by Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji and Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim bin Nasser al-Aufi on Sunday.
Iran and Oman signed three other documents to cooperate in economic, investment, and free zones sectors.

According to Bahadori Jahromi, Iran’s exports to Central Asian and Caucasian countries and Russia increased 50 percent during the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 21, 2023) when compared with the corresponding period in 2022.
