Raeisi: Signed documents proof of Iran, Indonesia will to boost ties

SHANA (Jakarta) – Iran’s president here on Tuesday said the documents signed between Tehran and Jakarta show the two sides’ determination to expand their relations in all fields.

Iran and Indonesia signed 11 documents on cooperation in different sectors, including the oil and gas industry, in the presence of the two countries’ presidents.

Speaking in a joint press conference with his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo, President Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi expressed hope that large steps will be taken toward developing bilateral ties during his visit.

Over the past 70 years, the two countries have had good diplomatic relations in political, economic, commercial, regional, and international relations, continued the president.

Pointing to a $20 million trade volume targeted by Iran and Indonesia, Raeisi said the two states have decided to use their local currencies in their trade.  

‘Sanctions won’t stop Iran’

Iran has taken major strides toward scientific, technological, and economic development despite brutal sanctions and pressures, adding, “Sanctions and threats have failed to stop Iran.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has given top priority to partnerships and relations with Muslims and neighboring countries and also states with the same views,” underlined the president, continuing expansion of relations with Indonesia, which is an important country in Asia and the world and also a member of important regional and international organizations, is of great significance to Iran.”
