The steam unit launch coincided with a 200-megawatt increase in the plant’s power generation capacity.
West Karoun Combined-Cycle Power Plant has two gas-fired units with a 166 MW nominal capacity and one steam unit having a 160 MW nominal capacity.
The plant has high-voltage substations and power transmission lines installed by Iranian experts, supplying West Karoun oil fields with power.
Up to now, two 400-kilovolt (kV) substations, two 230 kV substations, and 180-kilometer-long transmission lines have been set up, and 120 kilometers more are under construction.
