Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the weekly cabinet meeting, Javad Owji added, “The NGL 3200 project is among those ready for operation.”
The first phase of the NGL 3200 plant has the capacity for collecting 250 million cubic feet of flare gas of West Karoun fields per day, stated the minister, continuing $1.4 million have been invested in the two phases of the project.
NGL 3200 is the first project for gathering associated petroleum gas (APG) of West Karoun fields, mentioned Owji, explaining the plant will inject sweet gas into the national grid and heavy compounds and condensates, as feedstock, will be carried to provincial petrochemical complexes in Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone through a pipeline.
According to him, the second phase will become operational within a year to process APG and produce value-added products.
The Ministry of Petroleum is planning to implement more APG projects, said Owji.
Two compressor stations for NGL 900 and NGL 1000 plants, a 160 MW power plant, and several other projects will be also inaugurated during the president’s visit to Khuzestan Province.
Russian, Chinese giants due in Iran
Shifting to Iran Oil Show 2023, Owji said all domestic and foreign giant oil and gas companies have been invited to participate in the 27th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition slated for May 17-20.
He added Gazprom, Russia's natural gas giant, and China’s large companies are among the invitees, stating that Iran and the participating companies will sign contracts and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to cooperate in downstream and upstream sectors of the oil industry.
