According to IOOC, the Gorzin gas processing facility came on stream in the late 1970s, and 6 wells from the Gorzin Gas Field fed the facility.
Due to worn-out facilities, as well as explosion of the lines in some cases, three wells became completely non-operational and replacement of the flow line of the entire wells was put on the agenda.
The project of replacing the flow lines of Gorzin wells in 2016 was assigned to a contractor, the initial project included 22 km of 6-inch pipeline from these wells to the Gorzin gas processing facility, and the recovery, pipe laying and embankment operations were carried out by the contractor, but in the middle of 2019, the project was abandoned half-finished.
On August 6, 2022, the plan for setting up new pipelines using the technical and logistical capacity of the region, for wells 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and to operationalize wells 3, 4, 7 was put on the agenda.
This operation was carried out under the aegis of the regional maintenance and repair department of IOOC and with the help and supervision of wells technical service units, Gorzin gas processing facilities, operation engineering, technical inspection, procurement, security, HSE, etc.
First, by installing the pig launcher and receiver on each of the flow lines and pig running with water, the lines were cleaned, and after the hydrotest and drying stage and getting approval from the technical inspection unit, the line connection operation began. For this purpose, cutting, fit-up and welding were done to connect new lines to the outlet of the wells, and installation of isolation joints, construction of a 10-inch header at the entrance of the facility, connection of lines to the entrance header of the facility and support were carried out.
Based on this, in parallel, for the construction of anchor blocks, excavation operations were carried out from the outlet of wells 1, 3, 4 and 7 and the entrance of pipelines to the facility, and then the operations of reinforcing, molding and concreting were carried out.
This half-finished project was put into operation in December 2022 after several years of stoppage and performing about 1,500 people/day, and spending about four months.
