Iran Eyes $12b in Petchem Sales

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji said petrochemical companies are estimated to deposit $12 billion in the NIMA system by the end of the current calendar year, which began on March 21.

Addressing a ceremony to mark the petrochemical day on Tuesday, he said that there are 67 active petrochemical units in the country that produce valuable products, adding: "Petrochemical plants have provided $9 billion to the Nima system since the beginning of the year and it is estimated that this figure will reach $12 billion by the end of the year."

The Minister of Petroleum stated that the demand for petrochemical products in the world markets is a ostensible and that no matter how much we invest in this industry, it is still small.

Owji noted that 15,000 industrial units in the country are fed by petrochemicals, adding: “Today, about 80 million cubic meters are spent on fuel and feedstock in the petrochemical industry, which produces valuable products, and on the other hand, 600 million cubic meters per day is used in the domestic sector.”
