Gas Swaps of Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Helpful to Stabilize Gas Network: NIGC

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) underlined the economic importance of the gas swap between Iran, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, and said: "This agreement will help stabilize the gas network in the north and northeast of Iran."

Speaking on Sunday evening, Majid Chegeni said: “The trilateral gas swap agreement of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran was signed in the presence of the presidents of the three countries.”

He added: "This agreement is of economic and geopolitical importance in strengthening regional relations, and according to the agreement, 1.5 to 2 billion cubic meters of gas will be transferred annually from Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
