Petchem Plants Operating Normally despite Heavy Rains in Khuzestan

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The CEO of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said the petrochemical complexes operating in the southwestern province of Khuzestan were operating normally despite heavy showers that had washed over the region in recent days.

Seyyed Omid Shahidinia said: "The recent heavy rains have not created any problems for the complexes and the production process."

"Fortunately, there is no problem for the complexes and the production process. Some companies were inundated in the first days of the rain, but water was promptly pumped out causing no problem for the production operations," he told Shana.

He pointed out that the amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours was more than 170 mm, which is about 77% of the annual rainfall in Mahshahr, Khuzestan Province.
